Grandson Donates Late Grandfather’s Medication to Patients in Need

Jonathan Tward Named Inaugural Holder of Vincent P. and Janet Mancini Presidential Endowed Chair in Genitourinary Malignancies

Cancer has had a profound impact on Vincent and Janet Mancini. In addition to a number of family members with cancer, Vincent was treated for prostate cancer. In gratitude, they decided to "pay it forward" and create a Presidential Endowed Chair in Genitourinary Malignancies. The inaugural holder of this prestigious position is Jonathan Tward, MD, PhD, leader of Huntsman Cancer Institute's Genitourinary Cancers Center.

Going the Distance in a Race with Prostate Cancer

On and off-road motorcycles, fuel dragsters, hydroplane boats, sail boats, power boats, bicycles, and now cars: J.R. Smith has raced all of these. After a cancer diagnosis in 2019, he decided to use that racing experience for a cause. He formed Team Fight Cancer with several other cancer patients. Their mission? Advancing Individualized Treatment for Metastatic Prostate Cancers

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer for men in the United States. About one man in nine will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in his life. A study recently published in The Lancet’s EBioMedicine Journal describes new insights into how unique genetic traits of metastatic prostate tumors that are shed into the blood of cancer patients can be used for applying to the care of and potential molecularly targeted treatments in individual patients.
