If You Need Transportation

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Buses and TRAX schedules, routes, and maps can be found at www.rideuta.com or by calling 1-888-RIDE-UTA. TRAX trains arrive and depart from the University of Utah every 15 minutes. The train stops in front of Primary Children's Medical Center. Across Mario Capecchi Drive from the TRAX station is a campus shuttle stop where you can catch the BLACK shuttle directly to Huntsman Cancer Institute. This shuttle will also return you to the TRAX station after your appointment.

University of Utah campus shuttles are in service from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The BLACK shuttle route stops at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Call 801-581-4189 or visit parking.utah.edu. There is no campus shuttle service on weekends or University holidays.

Aging and Adult Services

These departments throughout Utah provide services for people over 60, including Meals on Wheels, transportation, and caregiver and employment programs. For information, contact your county government office.

Air Care Alliance
The Air Care Alliance provides a listing of organizations that offer free flights to individuals who cannot afford the cost of traveling to and from health care facilities.

Angel Flight West

This service provides free flights on private aircraft to people in Western states with a health care or other compelling need. For flights to or from other states, contact Angel Flight America toll free at 1-877-621-7177 or online at www.angelflight.com.

The Bone Marrow Foundation
This foundation's patient aid program covers the cost of donor searches, compatibility testing, medication, transportation, housing expenses, and other transplant costs.

1-800-813-HOPE (4673)
CancerCare provides financial grants to people who need help paying for cancer treatment. Grants cover medication, home care, transportation, and other treatment-related costs.

Corporate Angel Network (CAN)
CAN provides free flights on corporate jets for cancer patients, bone marrow donors, and bone marrow recipients traveling to recognized cancer treatment centers in the United States.

Hospital Traveler
Hospital Traveler provides help and information to patients and families who are traveling for medical care. Their staff can make hotel reservations and offer discounted air and car rental rates.

Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF)
LRF offers a limited financial aid program to help with the costs of
medical treatment, transportation, lodging, and childcare.

National Patient Travel Center (NPTC)
NPTC provides information about all forms of charitable, long-distance air transportation for people traveling for medical care.

Netwish provides up to $500 direct and immediate assistance to families and individuals who desperately require a modest helping hand.

PERKIE Travels–A Service of Active Re-Entry
PERKIE Travels provides free transportation for patients living in Carbon and Emery counties receiving radiation therapy in Utah County.

Radiation Vacation Van–Vernal Shuttle
This service shuttles patients to Huntsman Cancer Institute from Vernal/Roosevelt.

Rise Above It
Patients diagnosed between the ages of 18 and 39 who are undergoing treatment in a clinical trial can receive financial assistance for direct and indirect costs.

Road to Recovery

Road to Recovery, sponsored by ACS, provides limited transportation to and from hospitals, doctors' offices, and cancer treatment facilities.

Ronald McDonald House Charities
Ronald McDonald Houses provide free or low-cost housing for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Salvation Army
Local units can offer emergency financial assistance to families.

United Way of America
United Way offices across the nation provide services and referrals to people struggling financially. Check the telephone directory or go online to find an office near you.

UTA offers discounted fares to people over age 65 and paratransit for people with disabilities who cannot use the regular bus system.

Volunteer Support Services
Online Transportation Form
Volunteer Support Services is a private, family-funded nonprofit that provides unique, supplemental support transportation services at no cost to cancer patients and their families and caregivers. This service is not available to the general public but is provided exclusively to patients, families, and caregivers that are referred by approved professional providers.
