Research Scholar Pilot Fund Program

The GMaP Region 6 Team is calling for proposals for the Research Scholar Pilot Fund Program!

Pilot funds ($20,000*) are one-year grants for New or Early Stage Investigators focused on cancer health disparities. Applications are due December 30, 2016. Funding will begin on February 1, 2017.

Eligibility Requirements

  • New1 or Early Stage2 Investigator at an institution within GMaP Region 6
  • Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • Applicant must be a member of the GMaP Region 6 Network
  • Applicant must address a relevant cancer health disparity problem within Region 6
  • Applicant must be a minimum PhD candidate and provide proof of enrollment
* Funds awarded may be adjusted based on institutional indirect costs
  1. New Investigator – individual has not previously competed successfully for a substantial NIH independent research award.
  2. Early Stage Investigator (ESI) – individual is within 10 years of completing terminal research degree/medical residency (or equivalent).

Important Dates

  • Open Date: July 1, 2017
  • Letter of Intent: August 1, 2017
  • Application Due Date: October 30, 2017 at 5:00PM MST
  • Review: November 2017
  • Award Start Date: December 1, 2017
