Helping Patients Find Their Way

Helping Patients Find Their Way

It can be hard for cancer patients to find their way through the health care system. Patient Navigator services at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) can help. All HCI patient navigator services are free.

Navigators make sure patients, caregivers, and doctors understand each other and get needed services. Patient navigators help in many ways:

  • Provide information about what to expect
  • Coordinate appointments
  • Establish and help maintain communication between the patient and health care team
  • Arrange interpreters for appointments
  • Refer to community support services
  • Locate financial support and help complete forms

Spanish-Speaking (EspaƱol) Patient Navigators

HCI has navigators for Spanish-speaking Hispanic/Latino patients and their families. Navigators serve as the bridge between patients and their care team. They can also arrange interpreters for appointments, if needed. Our Spanish-speaking navigators have helped more than 900 patients and families since the service began in 2009.

Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Patient Navigator

  • Finding resources
  • Connectng with support services
  • Getting up-to-date information about survivorship and fertility

The service is free and available to all AYAs, including those no longer in treatment.
