Plan Ahead For Your Trip to the Hospital

If you’ve been by the hospital on campus in the last few months, you may be wondering about all the construction going on. University of Utah Health is undergoing exciting new expansions we are calling our Campus Transformation.

Construction and road closures will impact walking and driving routes on and around campus. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our customer service team at 801-581-2668.

Sky Bridge Detour

If you're trying to get to the hospital from the west side over the sky bridge, you'll now need to take a short detour through the construction site. This detour will add about 3 minutes to your walk.

This detour will stay in place as we continue to make construction changes to the bridge through October 2018.

Patient Parking Terrace

If you're coming from the patient parking terrace, please use the hospital's north entrance.

  • To get to the hospital's north entrance, use the elevators or stairs in the center of the parking terrace.
  • This detour will stay in place as we continue to make construction changes to the bridge through October 2018.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding as we transform our health campus to better serve the growing population of our state and better train the next generation of health care professionals.

UDOT Road Closures

Through August 2018, UDOT will begin repaving the roads on three sides of campus. Significant delays are expected for patients and visitors to the hospital.

North Campus Drive | Closed May 7-June 2018

One eastbound lane will be kept open at all times to ensure that emergency vehicles coming from downtown can get to University Hospital. Detours will be in place.

Mario Capecchi Drive and South Campus Drive | Closed June-August 2018

Mario Capecchi Drive and South Campus Drive repaving work will be done simultaneously each night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. While segments of both roads will be closed at times, neither roadway will be completely closed for extended periods. Lane-shifts will be in effect and the sidewalk along Mario Capecchi Dr. will be closed.

More information on this project is available on UDOT’s website.

East Medical Drive

As part of the ongoing Campus Transformation, East Campus Drive will be closed temporarily from May 7 – June 8 to enable Dominion Energy to install a new natural gas line that will serve many buildings on campus including HCI, U Hospital, and various research buildings.
