What Is Urgent Care?
Virtual Urgent Care Visits
With an internet-connected device, you can have a medical consultation with a U of U Health care provider from the comfort of your own home. Patients of any age can start a virtual urgent care visit for a range of non-life-threatening conditions.
Sickness doesn’t always happen between 8-5. We’re open all day—plus weekends and evenings—when you need care right away for an illness or injury that isn’t life-threatening.
What Does Urgent Care Treat?
-
- Flu and fever
- Earaches
- Nausea
- Rashes and allergic reactions
- Animal and insect bites
- Sprains and minor bone fractures
- Minor cuts that need stitches
- Urinary tract/bladder infections
Insurance Coverage
Most insurance plans typically bill urgent care visits like a regular primary care visit.
Types of Testing We Offer
We do not perform lab work in urgent care. However, we do offer the following tests for our patients:
- Glucose,
- HCG (pregnancy),
- Urinalysis (UA),
- Strep, and
- Flu.
We will also conduct X-rays, if needed.
When Should I Go To Urgent Care?
When an emergency strikes, make sure you know where to go for care. This checklist is a quick guide for common emergencies. If the situation is life threatening, call 911 or go to the emergency room. (Download printable version of this chart.)
