One Week Before Surgery

  • Discontinue soft contact lenses. Do not wear toric, rigid gas permeable or hard contact lenses once you have scheduled your laser procedure.
  • Be sure to purchase a large box of preservative free artificial tears (we can give you a brand name recommendation). These drops may be purchased over the counter.

On the Day of Surgery

  1. You will be at the Laser Center for one to two hours. Arrange for a friend or relative to drive you home on the day of your procedure. Plan on resting the remainder of the day following your procedure.
  2. Payment is due before the procedure. We accept cash, cashier’s check, credit cards, and benefit cards. We do not accept personal checks. Financing arrangements need to be made prior to the day of surgery. If you have questions on financing call: 801-587-1872 or 801-213-2425.
  3. You will be going home with protective eye shields and dark glasses. Wear loose warm comfortable clothing—nothing that pulls over your head.
  4. Please eat a light meal prior to surgery. Avoid excessive caffeine on the day of surgery.
  5. Prior to arriving at the Laser Center make certain that all eye makeup including mascara is removed. DO not wear earrings, facial jewelry, or excessive aromatics (lotions, garlic, perfumes).
  6. Please bring all prescription and nonprescription eye drops on the day of surgery. You will receive written information the day of surgery on how to use your prescription drops. It is very important that you use your drops exactly as the doctor prescribes. Your compliance can make the difference in your recovery.

The Day After Your Surgery

  • Visit your physician the day after surgery for a post-operative exam. IF you are unable to drive, please arrange for transportation.

Tips

  • Avoid anything that will dry out your eyes. Ceiling fans and direct heat or air condition blowing in your face will cause excessive dryness.
  • Remember to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from ultraviolet light.
