In areas with fewer health care professionals, there is limited access to professionals who can diagnosis and treat stroke patients when time is a challenge. Using real-time videoconferencing and teleradiology, University of Utah Health's Telestroke Program provides 24-hour on-call neurologists to community hospitals to help with diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients. The Telestroke Program overcomes geographic and transportation barriers with reliable technology that allows immediate access to stroke experts who can provide consultation.
