U of U Physician Inducted as President of American Academy of Pain Medicine

SALT LAKE CITY –Perry Fine, M.D., professor of anesthesiology at the University of Utah, was inducted as president of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) on March 26, 2011 in Washington, D.C.

Fine is internationally respected as a researcher and leader in the field of pain medicine. He serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed medical journals. He has worked as a team physician for the U of U football team for the last 18 years and was a medical officer for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He is the recipient of the 2007 American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Distinguished Hospice Physician Award, and the 2008 American Pain Society John and Emma Bonica Public Service Award.

The AAPM is the medical specialty society representing physicians practicing in the field of pain medicine. As a medical specialty society, the AAPM is involved in education, training, advocacy, and research in the specialty of pain medicine.
