U of U Health Care Appoints Matthew A. Stein, M.D., as the New Chief of Breast Imaging

SALT LAKE CITY - Matthew A. Stein, M.D., has been chosen as the new section chief of Breast Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. As part of his new role, he will lead the U’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Utah’s first Breast Imaging Center of Excellence and the first in the Intermountain West to offer digital mammography.

 The U’s breast imaging department works among multiple specialty disciplines and offers the latest in screening and diagnostic technology to provide the least invasive assessment options available, including:

  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Breast MRI
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Ultrasound guided biopsies
  • Cryoablation
  • Stereotactic  breast biopsies

 Dr. Stein attended medical school at the University of Nevada, and completed his internship and residency in radiology at the U of U. He completed a neuroradiology fellowship at the U of U and a breast imaging fellowship at the University of Washington’s Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
