David Entwistle Elected Chair of Utah Hospital Association Board of Trustees

David Entwistle, CEO of University of Utah HealthcareSALT LAKE CITY – David Entwistle, CEO of University of Utah Healthcare, has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Utah Hospital Association. As chair, Entwistle will lead the 23-member board in developing policy and direction for the Association in 2012.

 Entwistle is the Chief Executive Officer for University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics (UUHC), a position he has held since February 2007.  In this role he oversees all hospital and clinic operations. UUHC is an academic medical center comprising the University Medical Center, Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Orthopaedic Hospital and the Neuropsychiatric Institute.  The health system is recognized nationally as a leader in cancer treatment, ophthalmology, surgical specialties and orthopedics and employs more than 8,000 people.

 In addition to Mr. Entwistle’s position at UUHC and his role as UHA board chair, he also serves in leadership roles on the governing boards of University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Novation.  Mr. Entwistle was recognized as a Modern Healthcare “Up & Comer” in 2008 and by Utah Business magazine as a “Forty under 40” honoree.

 Prior to coming to Utah, Entwistle served six years as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin.  Entwistle also previously worked as the Vice President of Operations at City of Hope National Medical Center in the Los Angeles area. 

 Entwistle received his Masters degree in Health Services Administration from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and his Bachelors in Health Sciences at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  He completed a post-graduate fellowship in Healthcare Administration at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
