Interviewer: How to plan a healthy meal. Registered dietitian Theresa Dvorak, how do I do that?

Theresa: Right. So a lot of people tend to overcomplicate healthy meals. And really keeping it simple, looking at your plate something we call The Plate Method. So if I'm taking a round plate, divide it in half and about half that plate is going to be vegetables mostly, maybe some fruits in there as well, lots of color especially our leafy greens.

And then another quarter will be whole grains, a variety of grains there, and then the last quarter would be your protein source. So focusing on plant proteins and then any lean animal proteins if that's of your choice, and then sprinkling with healthy fats. We consider those are our unsaturated fatty acids. And keeping it simple and keeping it colorful is really the key to a healthy plate.
