Ailments of the bladder and pelvic area fall under the field of urogynecology. At the Pelvic Care & Incontinence Center, women can receive evaluation and treatment for a number of conditions of the bladder and pelvis, including incontinence, infections, prolapse of pelvic organs, bowel disorders and many others.
Women’s Health Services is fortunate to offer breast health services with the aid of the Comprehensive Breast Care Center at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Services include breast imaging (such as mammograms), diagnoses and evaluations, and cutting edge treatments for cancers or other conditions.
The Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine offers the most advanced technologies and methods in the treatment of infertility and reproductive endocrinology. These treatments include in-vitro fertilization, an egg donor program, intrauterine insemination, gestational surrogacy, tubal ligation reversal and male infertility treatments.
Offered in the Maternal Fetal Diagnostic Center, genetic counseling can help patients evaluate the risks of having a child with a birth defect or genetic defect. The center offers education and counseling about prenatal testing options to help parents best determine their options.
Obstetrics involves assisting a woman through pregnancy, labor and delivery. The services offered to assist parents in prenatal and postnatal care include routine check-ups, diagnostics, perinatal education, midwife services and the specialty services of maternal fetal medicine for high risk pregnancies, the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Prematurity Prevention Clinic.
Routine care and evaluation of the female reproductive organs are the primary core of gynecological services. Specialists are available to women of all ages from adolescence to midlife, pre and post menopause and beyond. Other services include the treatment of endometriosis, gynecologic surgery, menopause management and others.
Every woman needs to find the right place for her birth experience. Women’s services can assist parents in choosing among laboring options that include midwifery and advanced technologies to make labor and delivery as comfortable and welcoming as possible.
For first-time parents and over-experienced parents, a range of perinatal classes are available depending on your needs. These include breastfeeding, hypnobirthing, infant massage, multiple births, adoption, Cesarean section, pregnancy complications and others.
The importance of care for infants and mothers that experience a preterm birth is well understood by the Utah Preterm Birth Prevention Clinic. Parents can find assistance in evaluating risk and develop a treatment plan for mothers who are at risk for a preterm birth.
A special evaluation for women at midlife is offered through the Women’s Midlife Assessment Clinic. This half-day assessment involves thorough screening tests and individual counseling to maximize a patient’s health through menopause.
