Academic Bio

Dr. Alden graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. with honors in Botany. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee. But research in the biomedical sciences was not as interesting to her as working with real people, so she decided on medical school, graduating from Duke University School of Medicine in 1979. Research and teaching interests have included systems of care in the public mental health system and the clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation for persons with serious mental illness. Dr. Alden sees patients in the Utah public mental health system of care.
