Academic Bio

Ronald Day, MD began studying vascular pharmacology as a Pediatric Cardiology Fellow at the UCLA School of Medicine in collaboration with Louis Ignarro, PhD. He has been performing clinical research at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Medical Center since 1991. His clinical research has focused on three areas: (1) the evaluation and treatment of pulmonary hypertension, (2) the outcome of children with a functional single ventricle at moderately high altitude, and (3) methods to improve the safety and efficacy of coronary arteriography in children.

Dr. Day has extensively studied the treatment of pulmonary hypertension with inhaled nitric oxide in newborns, children with heart disease and children with lung disease. He has a desire to develop methods to evaluate the severity of pulmonary vascular disease non-invasively and potentially decrease the need for heart catheterization in children.
