The doctor was very honest and caring and through in explanation as to not recommending Lasik for my eye condition. It means a lot to me that he explained well why Lasik is not for me. He said that "If you were my sister" he would not recommend Lasik surgery. (because it will make my existing problems worse.) He is very honest and trust worthy.

Although I don't question the qualifications of Dr. Moshifar's partner (doctor), I was a little disappointed that my appointment wasn't with Dr. Moshifar when I had made the appointment with him. However, this wouldn't discourage me from recommending the Moran Eye Center to a friend or family member.

I chose the University of Utah because it is a research and teaching hospital. I have always felt that I am receiving the highest quality and most up to date health care at this hospital.

Normally Dr. Moshifar is extremely attentive and takes adequate time with me. Unfortunately, this time he seemed rushed (had a visitor with him). He was in and out of the exam room before I realized he would not be returning. As a result, I never was able to ask him questions I had in mind.

Although the outcome of the visit was not the diagnosis we wanted to hear (basically nothing can be done) everyone was very kind and compassionate to our extreme disappointment.

He's a great doctor. But he seemed very rushed due to patient overload. I don't want him dinged because the clinic is/was understaffed. But at this level (renowned university medical facility), a three hour visit for a 15 minute consult and diagnosis seems more than excessive.

From the first visit to this most recent and last visit, I have had a very positive experience. The initial evaluation, surgery, and follow up care have been much better than anticipated. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Moshirfar. I trust him with two of my most precious things - my eyes.

It would just really be nice to only see the MD who I made my appointment with and not two MDs in addition to him. I have a tight schedule and having to let "partners" or residents view my eye condition and ask the same questions as everyone else is just redundant and time consuming. If need be it would be ideal to see my MD first then have him ask my permission to have a resident or other MD look at my eyes, I think it would be more respectful that way.

I left not knowing the full scope of my eye situation

I've never met a doctor better at the detail and attentiveness to the patient than Dr. Moshirfar. I've learned better care of my patients from his example.

The Doctor was great, but due to the mistake made by the nurse of reading me someone elses chart I wouldn't recommend this place to someone else.

My only problem was I'd make a comment or question and the health care provider was much more interested in telling me what they thought I was asking instead of letting me ask my questions and converse with them. I'm a patient, not a student.

Dr. Moshifar wrote down exactly what I needed to purchase and how to use the medications prescribed. He also outlined and drew a picture of the problem areas of my eye. He was very clear and precise in his instruction.

Of all my visits this was the best one I have experienced. In the past I had long waits and left not feeling I understood where I am with the multiple conditions of my eyes. The explaination was clear and gave me hope that taking care of my eyes helps to slow down degeneration.

I'd like to be able to differentiate the care provider from the rest of the office by adding a number higher than 5 to the survey! This should not be construed as a reflection on the office but only as evidence of my gratitude and enthusiasm for Dr. Moshifar. Oftentimes I don't think I have serious problems with my eyes but that is due to his protocol- this is truly an example of receiving "care". On this visit I realized again that since finding Dr. Moshifar I enjoy visual acuity that I never had before. As fragile as it is and as much as I work on it every day, I do have days of clarity and depth perception that are new to me. This was a difficult visit for me. A residual of a childhood spent struggling to see, I guess. I'm always ashamed I can't see better and afraid of "getting in trouble"- and Dr. Moshifar keeps me going. I don't know what I would do without his help and am so grateful for your clinic.

Dr. Moshirfar talks around the patient more than he should. He uses the word "lady" a lot which is rather funny but also quaintly out of date. Like to talk to his fellows instead of the patient.

Dr. Moshifar's exam was also thorough, but more specifically directed to my problem. He offered to write a follow up letter to my local optometrist in Wyoming, which I really appreciated. Dr.Moshifar answered my questions and concerns very well and explained the anticipated follow up care very clearly. There was no attempt to rush or pressure me into making a decision about surgery on the spot. I believe I have all the information I need to make a good decision. Although I am still terrified of having eye surgery, I do have confidence that Dr. Moshifar would care for me as a person - not just another procedure.

Dr. Moshirfar is wonderful; I came to Moran with very bad vision and a misdiagnosis of a serious vision problem following Lasix at another facility. After four years, Dr. Moshirfar had me back to 20/15 vision with glasses and my eye health back to normal, simply by treating me for dry eye, and I am confident that I have no serious vision conditions. Now, ten years after the surgery and eight years after I started seeing Dr. Moshifar, I have 20/20 without glasses and am no longer taking any meds for vision issues. I initially saw Dr. Moshirfar five years ago due to serious difficulties I was having post catarac surgery performed by another Dr. Dr. Moshirar performed corrective (salvage) surgery and my experience then and ever since has been absolutely wonderful.

Dr Kim was very through but repeated himself, talked very fast and a bit too much, not much opportunity for questions. I wished Dr Moshefar had come in.

Excellent doctor! Explained everything!

This is for Moshirfar. The assistant (med student? intern?) was so focused on his by-the-numbers protocol he didn't pay attention and so did things that didn't make sense given the actual complaint. Probably just inexperience, which will go away when the protocol becomes automatic and he has some attention to spare for the patient's particular situation.
