The PA came in and asked if I was a transplant patient. When I said absolutely not, it became evidence to me that he was confused and had not looked at my file before he walked into the examining room. I was also surprised to find out that there was the possibility of having the cystoscopy procedure done at that appointment. Had I known that, I would have scheduled a longer appointment. I could not wait longer than the 1.5 hours I was there as I had another appointment that morning. Now I have to wait 3 weeks for this appointment. I don't have any bias against PAs; however, I waited 2 months for this appointment, hoping to see a specialist in urology, and was not told I would be seeing a PA rather than an MD. I did not know this until the postcard came a week before the appointment. I was frustrated and disappointed but had waited so long that I kept the appointment.

I have had UTI since Oct and an pregnant now and the only thing the urologist did was a urine culture which I get done at my gyno office and push on my kidneys. I expected more to be done to find out why this infection will not go away.

this was a better than expected experience thanks to the care provider. However, I would like to go on record saying this procedure ( stent removal ) should be done under sedation. It is very painful and creates a great deal of anxiety in a patient.

I'm really frustrated with him. During my appointment he stated I had a 4-5 mm kidney stone (I double checked my chart info on mychart and my mother who was in the room with us) this lead me to decide to just pass the stone the natural way. When I came back for my followup with the 5mm passed stone, he stated talking about the 8mm one that I had yet to pass that requires surgery. If this had been mentioned at the original appointment I would have had the surgery right away instead of dealing with two more weeks of pain from the 5mm and still need surgery.

I only wish I had been warned of the possible pain I could experience due to the stent removal. My drive home was extremely painful and because I was driving I could not take my pain medication. I know all outcomes cannot be predicted. I have had many stents removed and never had this experience of severe pain before. So I don't blame the doctor. It was just unfortunate.

doctor didn't really explain to me what was going on, didn't even tell me what I should do if it starts to hurt again. didn't give me the run down of what it could possibly be, didn't suggest any medication nothing what's so ever. really disappointed, I chose the U hospital cause I thought I would get good treatment or at least a good run down of what was going on with me. I wouldn't recommend the U to go for a urologist.

He could not find the stents the first time. He sent us to get an xray. Second time, he went in the wrong place, then finally found them. My daughter was hurting, but he just seemed to be trying to get the job done.

The PA was in a hurry, didn't answer questions well, and most disturbing his exam was short and limited. Beside coming in for testicle pain I was concerned about prostrate issues since prostrate cancer runs in my immediate family and I have an enlarged prostrate. He told me that if I wanted my prostrate checked that I needed to go to my general care physician and have him check it out. Why did I come to a specialist in the first place? I was very unhappy with the whole experience. I have seen dozens and dozens of Doctors because of a severe neuropathy and so I believe I'm a pretty good judge of how a good Physician treats his patient. I have an apt tomorrow for another procedure so we'll see how this one goes.

For several years, I have received the BEST care from Both Dr. Middleton (Retired), and Dr. Southwick Moved out of the country) I was assigned?? to a PA for care, which I feel was a poor choice. I hope there are MD's also in the clinic. For the care I received, I could have stayed home. A waste of my time and Insurance money.

Mr. Ensign stated he would call me the next day with results of my CT scan. I called his office late in the next day when I had not heard from him and received a call back from another person, letting me know my results were incomplete and couldn't provide further detail. I would have liked to discuss the results with Mr. Ensign so I could have been given reasons why the results were incomplete and what that meant.

Craig is a wonderful P.A. He immediately puts me at ease. He is thorough in his examination and explains everything very clearly. He and the staff got me set up for a CT scan followed by an appointment Monday. I feel very fortunate having Craig looking after my Urological needs.

I was very impressed with Craig Ensign until I got the results of my CT scan through MyChart. It indicated I also have a 4mm stone in my left kidney (I was there to follow up on the one in my right). The test also showed some abnormalities, neither of which were addressed. I can understand him not bringing up the liver, since it's not his expertise/the reason I was there. However, I felt as a urologist he really should have informed me about the additional kidney stone. I don't know if he didn't look at the results closely enough or forgot but I really felt it was worth him mentioning, if I was not signed up for MyChart I would have no idea. Other then this incident I have been impressed with him. Easy to talk to and I feel like he listens to my questions and concerns.

I did not have an appointment; none was avaliable. I had a possible emergency which needed a PVR to resolve; it turned out there was no emergency. The provider seemed to be concerned only with my worries, which were none; he couldn't seem to understand that.

I was not incredibly impressed with this provider or his clinic. I saw him twice. When I checked in at the front desk during my first visit I was not advised of any tests, procedures, etc. I went back and suddenly I needed to do a urine sample, and they needed to do an ultrasound... This clinic did a horrible job at communicating what was being done or why. During his first visit he did a fairly good job of advising me of concerns and an upcoming CT scan, and reason for antibiotic use. I was very irritated when he walked me up to the front desk to check me out though. I don't know if the Urology Clinic takes HIPAA concerns seriously. He told me to go back to the front office and indicated which admission person I should go to. He stayed behind the admission desk, in the patient area, and proceeded to tell her, in front of multiple providers and patients (both in the waiting room and in the treatment area) what my diagnosis was and what test needed to be scheduled. I sat there dumbfounded as everyone stared at me. At the second visit, I was shocked to find out that I was goin gto have a cystoscope exam on my bladder. I thought it was a visit solely to discuss the CT scan results. I was so upset I actually started crying. The last few "invasive" procedures I had I did not handle appropriately. If I knew I was going to have this, I would NOT have come alone.

He was good but I felt that he was rushed. My PSA was up 5 points and he not only said it was expected at my age said even if I did get cancer I would die of something else before it killed me. Very frank discussion that I was not quite prepared for. He did to his credit take time to explain rectal exam.. He took more time on this exam than any other doctor I have had that has examined me. He did tell me of the abnormalities and implications. JUST SEEMED RUSH, NEEDED TO KEEP TO THEIR 15 MINUTE ALLOTTED MEDICARE STANDARD. AT LEAST I HAVE BEEN TOLD DOCTORS HAVE OR ARE LIMITED TO 15 MINUTES WITH A PATIENT. At age 75 this is the first time I have been to a Urologist, so I expected him to take more time with me.

Overall a bad experience. I was referred by my primary care physician to this clinic. I came in thinking my issues would be address, but all that happened was a 5 minute visit that ended in another referral. Before even being able to ask questions (my main concern was ongoing pain) I was pretty much ushered out of the room to the front desk to schedule a follow up appointment. I told the secretary that I was not done speaking with Dr. Ensign and had some concerns of pain and pain management, and was then told that he had left the building already for a meeting. I was then told that the physician he wanted me referred to was unavailable for the next 2 months and I would have to see a different urologist in South Jordan. I live in Tooele, so getting to the South Jordan clinic I was referred to is going to take me over an hour. I have two children that I have to arrange for babysitters for just to go to this appointment. Dr. Ensigns lack of questioning (especially considering my appointment was for testicular pain) about the subject and general disregard for myself during my appointment, and his obvious rush to leave the clinic for whatever "meeting" he had to attend was the worst experience I've had with a U of U related doctor. I had to contact my primary care provider with questions concerning pain management and will have to continue to do so until my next appointment (Sept 16th), nearly two months after being referred to the U of U Urology department. I came in to get established with a urologist. My concerns were 1) a rising PSA for prostate cancer, 2) history of kidney stones, and 3) someone to go to if I ever have problems with my urinary artificial sphincter. However, the appointment focused on getting me to the HCI for my first problem, and I never did achieve my goal for problems 2 and 3. Looks like I'll have to come back.

Craig was great. This is my first time seeing him. He just seems like a really sincere, caring person. He did not make me wait, which I loved. He was really friendly and listened to my questions. I especially appreciated that he asked me if I had any other questions that I wanted to discuss with him, which I did. Then he took an additional few minutes to answer those questions. I felt like I got what I wanted out of the visit and then more. Quick and efficient, friendly and caring, listening and informative -- all really important things for me.

I was seen by a PA and he was very friendly, however, because this was a first visit back after 10 years and because the visit was triggered by an ER admission; I would have liked to see a doctor who could have taken into account a bigger picture. I can see a great role for PA in follow up, but not at the initial visit.

Overall it was good, my only complaint was that I received no explanation of what my follow up care would be. I was scheduled for an appointment with a different Doctor and told I would receive a different kind of xray, but not explained anything beyond that as far as how my issue would be resolved.

I think my time with the PC was maybe 5 minutes. He asked them to scan my bladder and left. He came back, finding everything normal, and said he was giving my a drug. I asked about side effects as I have issues with drugs for my work, and he said it will be no factor. There was almost no dialogue. He didn't really present an option besides drugs. I just left feeling like it was overall a worthless visit, minus a prescription that it turned out I couldn't take and work. He seems to have taken on the factory-line doctor role, and it's sad.

Dr. Ensign cut me off midsentence multiple times and dismissed my concerns about what I was experiencing. When I asked for something to help with the pain he suggested Tylenol and ibuprofen. If those helped I wouldn't have made the appointment to begin with. It was very insulting.

Craig is the best provider that I've ever had! I wish he were GP so I could see him as a PCP. He's so nice and caring, and I believe that he truly wishes to help his patients. I like that he gives me options about my healthcare treatment plan and tells me what he thinks is best, yet allows me to decide what the next step is. This is the best quality about Craig. He's also very enthusiastic every time I see him and looks happy to see me every time I've seen him. I would not want to go to anyone else, he is the best!

Did not feel like I was listened to. Feel as though an irrelevant prescription was pushed on me and my concern of pain was completely disregarded. Was also told to drink less water, though I expressed that if I do not drink water, I get an infection that requires antibiotics. Never thought I'd have a Dr. tell me to drink less water.

Seems to me that providers in this clinic are too specialized, more interested in treating kidneys, ureters and such rather than people. Instructions for follow-up blood work at the lab were clear enough for me to get there, but instructions about and directions to x-ray were not adequate. I had to ask the lab technician about what to do/where x-ray was, got lost on my way and when I did arrive at the right place, the order wasn't in the system.

fantastic across the board, thorough and so quick to narrow things down and finally get something done that no one has found it necessary to do before right in the middle of my visit because he knew it was necessary i have never been more impressed with a dr. i appreciated his thoroughness and willingness to do whatever was necessary to finally get me an answer and really explain what things meant to me and what was going on and why at all times i felt very involved in my own care which i greatly appreciated as well as the extra time he took that no one has bothered to do before.

He read the old Dr. report. Didn't think that I needed to take the test that the Dr. had said I needed to repeat in 6 months. Referred me to a OB/GYN instead. I was really surprised. I didn't understand why he didn't do more. I thought he would at least do an ultrasound or repeat the CT scan. I wasn't sure if he had any of my medical history or not. I will not see him if I need to see a Urologist again.

I asked a few questions and he instructed me to go online and research the pros and cons of the procedure (vasectomy) I plan on having. He seemed rushed and didn't seem to want to spend much time with me. He explained very little and all of the information with which I left was obtained through my questions rather than him offering any degree of consultation.

I felt dismissed in this appointment. Craig focused on a single concern and the other issues were either hardly addressed or no concern was shown. For instance, I discussed my pain with the provider and the response I got was that sometimes pain is associated with my operation. It felt like there was no discussion about fixing the issue. I feel like I have to just live with the issue. Also, I was told about extreme treatment options without any investigation. It was unsettling.

The care provider went out of his way to explain why he was doing what he was doing.

Overall I am satisfied with the service I received. My only piece of advice would be to spend more time listening and getting in depth. He rushed to a conclusion with little information. (He said he believes I had Kidney Stones, but I have no pain of any kind). I just wish he would have spent more time evaluating and testing, before jumping to a conclusion.
