Academic Bio

Dr. Jonathan Boltax is a clinical instructor in the department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is part of the thoracic oncology multidisciplinary team at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. Dr. Boltax’s clinical interest is in thoracic oncology with a focus on diagnostic bronchoscopy using ultrasound and management of pleural disease in malignancy. He also has a focus on Sarcoidosis and general pulmonary medicine. He attends at both the Huntsman ICU and the Medical ICU.

Dr. Boltax’s research is focused on management of pleural disease in lung cancer and lung cancer screening in heavy smokers. He currently is enrolling patients in a multicenter study looking to establish ideal drainage schedules for patients with tunneled pleural catheters and is retrospectively looking at the patients who have been screened for lung cancer using the new NCI guidelines recommending CT screening for heavy smokers.
