Dr Bradley Freestone graduated with distinction from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2006. His education included an internship at a blind rehabilitation center with an emphasis in geriatric care and low vision.
Before joining the Life Skills Clinic, he had a low vision private practice. Dr Freestone continues to see patients at the George E Whalen Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Specializing in low vision, Dr Freestone understands how vision can affect one’s ability to complete simple routine tasks that are often taken for granted and the frustration that usually results.
Low Vision Examination
A low vision examination at the Life Skills Clinic is comprehensive, including an eye exam with Dr Freestone. No matter how little vision is left, Dr Freestone tries to maximize whatever is left. Dr Freestone conducts a thorough exam and takes time to educate his clients about what they see and finds the prescription that is right for individual goals. Family and caregivers are welcome to sit in during the exam.
The next step of the process is a referral to one of our certified LowVision/Occupational Therapists. Our therapists work one on one with each client, showing how to use devices and strategies and to provide additional resources and therapy to help in completing day-to-day tasks that are important for independence and participation in life.
Vision Therapy involves a variety of techniques to exercise the eyes. Like other forms of therapy, exercise strengthens the muscles and allows for more comfortable compensation of visual problems such as eye alignment and the inability to read for long periods of time
