(SALT LAKE CITY)— University of Utah Health colleges and programs remain among the best in the nation in primary care, research, physician assistant training, nurse midwifery, pharmacy and other areas, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
In the magazine's latest rankings, the University of Utah School of Medicine is now ranked No. 40 for research, up from 46 last year. And in primary care, the School of Medicine was ranked No. 34, a jump of 20 spots from No. 54 last year.
"This is a remarkable rise in standing that places the University among the country's top institutions," said U of U Health Senior Vice President Vivian Lee, M.D., Ph.D., MBA. "Our students can train in a health system ranked No. 1 in the nation for quality by Vizient, and receive a high-value medical education that prepares them to lead the transformation of health care."
Other programs also did well in the recently released rankings. The College of Pharmacy's Pharm.D. program is ranked No. 17 in the country. The College of Nursing's master's degree program is ranked No. 31, and the doctorate of nursing practice program is ranked No. 22. The physical therapy program in the College of Health is ranked No. 20.
Other notable rankings that were not updated this year include the the physician assistant program (No. 5) and the nursing midwifery program (No. 9).
