Becker's Hospital Review Names University of Utah Hospital to its list of 100 Great Hospitals in America

University of Utah Hospital has been named to the 2017 edition of the Becker's Hospital Review list of "100 Great Hospitals in America".

The hospitals are selected based on analysis of several rankings agencies, including U.S. News and World Report's 2016-17 Honor Roll and specialty rankings, CMS star ratings, Leapfrog grades, Truven Health Analytics top hospitals, Most Wired hospitals and Magnet accreditation. Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list since 2012.

According to Becker's, "The hospitals included on this list are renowned for excellence. They are industry leaders in innovation, quality patient care and clinical research, and have received recognition across various publications and accrediting organizations.

The Becker's profile of University of Utah Hospital states, "University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics is the No. 1 hospital in the state, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 rankings. However, its reach extends far beyond the state of Utah. As the Mountain West's only academic health care system, U of U Health serves patients in the five surrounding states as well. It includes four hospitals: the main University of Utah Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the University Orthopaedic Center and the University Neuropsychiatric Institute, as well as several clinics and specialty centers. It is also home to a top 50 medical school, according to the 2016-17 U.S. News & World Report rankings."
