Academic Bio

Dr McDevitt is an emergency physician who focuses on treatment of emergent conditions at University Hospital.

Dr. McDevitt returned to academics in 2008 after working as an Emergency Physician in the private sector in Alaska. She completed the Wilderness Medicine and EMS fellowship concurrently with a Master in Public Health and a certificate in Global Health.

Dr. McDevitt is an assistant professor in the division of Emergency Medicine and the Associate Director for the Wilderness Medicine and EMS fellowship. Her research interests include hypothermia, altitude illness, frostbite, ski patrol education and search & rescue training.

She is on the Board of the Wilderness Medical Society, a non-profit organization that raises the standards of Medical care, education and research in the remote areas of the world. She currently serves on the executive board of ACEPs wilderness medicine section.
