Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder. It happens when your body can't make enough insulin, or can't use it properly. You may be at risk for type 2 diabetes if you are an older adult if you drink alcohol daily, exercise fewer than 30 minutes a day, have a family history of diabetes, are overweight, have high blood pressure, and others.
