University of Utah Ranked Among Top Research Institutions Advancing Health Care by Cure Innovation Index

The University of Utah has been ranked 27th out of 243 U.S. research universities by the Cure Innovation Index, a prestigious ranking of health care innovation which aims to measure how well institutions are creating health care solutions via research.

The U’s high ranking is primarily driven by its strong scores in entrepreneurial readiness and market translation—both categories in which it places among the top-ranked universities nationally. Entrepreneurial readiness measures how well an institution supports entrepreneurship, as well as faculty engagement with commercialization. The U’s high market translation score is an indicator of its effectiveness at turning scientific discovery into real-world solutions.

Faculty participation in clinical trials, degree programs that bridge medicine and business, and an entrepreneur incubator all contribute to the U’s environment of advancing research-backed health care solutions. The U also scored well in overall research capabilities, encompassing excellent research facilities and cutting-edge science as well as above-average funding support for research.

Of all ranked universities, the U ranked #29 in entrepreneurial readiness, #34 in market translation, and #53 in research capabilities.
