At University of Utah Health, there are no reports of injury to patients or staff. Our emergency command center is activated with key hospital leaders now assessing the impact to all buildings and property. We have set up blue medical tents in front of the hospital as part of our standard earthquake preparedness.
With safety front of mind, we have closed the following buildings for assessment:
- Sugar House Health Center
- School of Medicine
- Madsen Health Center
- Greenwood Health Center
We have a structural engineer on site and we are currently assessing potential damage to pedestrian bridges and other buildings on our campus with a priority for our patient care areas.
We continue to focus on the COVID-19 issue. COVID-19 tent evaluations are continuing at our Redwood Health Center, South Jordan Health Center and Farmington. All other hospital services remain operational, however those operations are now limited to urgent and emergent procedures due to current COVID-19 pandemic protocols.
This has been a challenging time and today's earthquake has, no doubt, created more anxiety for some. We are prepared and ready to respond to the community's needs. We will manage the events of today and continue to work with the community on the COVID-19 epidemic.
