The Receiving Center at Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) is temporarily closed as the facility works to improve supportive services to those experiencing a mental health crisis. Renovation is underway to expand the current space thanks to generous funding from Salt Lake County.
“This expansion is a necessary step in the process to opening the larger crisis care center,” says Ross VanVranken, executive director of HMHI. “We understand this temporary closure may create an inconvenience, but we’re confident the renovated facility will allow for greater access and quality of care.”
The Receiving Center is tentatively scheduled to reopen in Fall 2023* and will serve the community of Salt Lake County until the new Kem and Carolyn Gardner Mental Health Crisis Care Center opens in 2025.
