Aaron J. Prussin, MD, has been named chief medical ambulatory officer of University of Utah Health Hospitals & Clinics, effective immediately. Prussin has served as interim chief medical ambulatory officer since August 2024.
As chief medical ambulatory officer, Prussin provides physician leadership for University of Utah Health’s ambulatory enterprise, partnering with operational, nursing, and physician leaders to strengthen clinical operations, improve access and patient experience, support provider well-being, and advance high-value care across the health system. The role oversees physician leadership for ambulatory services and supports strategic growth and operational alignment across ambulatory sites.
“Aaron brings a thoughtful, collaborative leadership style and a deep understanding of ambulatory care operations,” said Tom Miller, MD, chief medical officer for University of Utah Health Hospitals & Clinics.
“He has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build alignment across teams, support physicians and staff, and help advance the strategic priorities of our ambulatory system. We are excited to have him continue permanently in this important leadership role.”
During his interim service, Prussin co-chaired the Ambulatory Operations Committee, led the Ambulatory Chief Value Officers, and played a key physician leadership role in planning efforts for the Eccles Health Campus & Eccles Hospital project in West Valley..
Prussin joined University of Utah Health in 2015 as a faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and currently serves as associate professor (clinical). He held several ambulatory leadership positions, including executive medical director for the Farmington Health Center, North Service Delivery Area, Sugar House Health Center, and Central Service Delivery Area.
Before joining U of U Health, Prussin founded and practiced for 20 years at New River Valley Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates in Virginia. He also served in governance leadership roles for Montgomery Regional Hospital/LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, including chairman of the board of trustees.

Prussin received a BS in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech and an MD from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, then completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He recently served as president of the Utah Society of Otolaryngology.
