Total Procedure Time: Total time from incision (cut) to skin closure
Prep Time: Time to position, drape, and apply anesthesia
Emergence Time: Time for patient to wake up from anesthesia before moving to the recovery room
Critical Portion of a Case: The critical/key portion of the procedure depends on a patient’s anatomy and the type of surgery. Most surgeries have a defined critical portion. For special circumstances like traumas and complicated surgeries, the the attending surgeon decides the critical components. Ask your doctor what the critical portion of the surgery is so you can understand it.
