We were referred by our Pediatrician, we would not have made this appointment had our Pediatrician not recommended it. The Dr acted like we were wasting his time because our Pediatrician office told us my son's spinal curve was 90 degrees, when it was actually 9 degrees. Had our Pediatrician office communicated properly, we would not have wasted time coming to this specialist. I should not have been treated like hypochondriac, because of the Pediatrician's poor communication.

we saw the doctor last year and his measurements of my daughters scoliosis was off by at least 10 degrees of what he told us when he remeasured the same xray this year. we could have saved a lot of worry last year if he had measured as accurately as he did this year.

We didnt feel informed or really heard by the dr, he just wanted to tell us it wasnt her spine and usher us out the door, but my mom & I kept asking questions and So did my daughter (she is 15) he seemed irritated that we kept asking things & werent satisfied by his lack of information. The Doctor didnt really offer much information of what is actually wrong, some pain management or why her legs are going numb! Overall it was a horrible experience!

Its seemed to me that the provider came into the room with the preconceived idea that my daughters issues were not his specialty. I left the office more confused about my daughters condition than when I got there.

We had a horrible visit. Right after we sat down in the waiting room the Dr came out and told his assistant his wife was there to pick him up and seemed like he was in a hurry. December 19, 2016
Dr. Smith was very hard to understand. He kept talking in probabilities rather than what was actually happening to our son's back. He seemed to make it a question that my son needed to answer on whether to get a brace or not, and then it wasn't really a question because according to the probabilities, a brace was warranted 6 months ago. When I tried to re-cap what he said, he said "no, but I can see how you thought that from what I said", so he was aware of being unclear, but kept on being unclear. I was finally restating everything he said to try to feel like I understood. I'm still not sure I do.

He is the top rated surgeon, but his 'bedside' manner is rough and cold. He did not make us feel at ease like he understood our fears. His reaction seems so clinical and matter-of-fact, not at all empathetic towards our frustrations and concerns, and our justification for being so. He seems hurried and not concerned with giving comfort, just facts and instructions. Even then, the instructions are 'sit and wait', no encouragement to try physical therapy or other techniques while waiting.
