Michael Lowry, MD, received his undergraduate and medical degrees and residency training in psychiatry all at the University of Iowa. He moved to Utah in 1980 and joined the faculty at the University of Utah, where he was Director of Psychiatry Residency Training until 1985. From 1985 to 1988, he was Medical Director of Wasatch Canyons Hospital, and then he worked at the Wasatch Canyons Center for Counseling until he returned to the University in 2001. In 2005, Dr. Lowry became Medical Director of the University Neuropsychiatric Institute. In 2007, he also became Associate Chair for Adult Services in the Department of Psychiatry. He served in those positions until 2013. Currently, he works part-time as a Clinical Associate Professor, supervising residents in an outpatient clinic. He has a small part-time outpatient clinical practice focused on individuals with mood and anxiety disorders at the University's Huntsman Mental Health Institute.
