  • Dr. Ligia Onofrei is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Utah and faculty member of the Neuromuscular Division. Dr. Onofrei also serves as the director of the Jack H. Petajan Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory and the associate program director for the adult neurology residency program. Dr. Onofrei completed her neurology residency training, as well as her neuromuscular training, at the University of Utah. In addition to the treatment and evaluation of neuromuscular disorders, Dr. Onofrei has a special interest in exploring the interplay between neurological disorders and degenerative spine disorders. Dr. Onofrei is passionate about teaching and has developed lectures and curricula for trainees at all stages: medical students, physician-assistant students, residents, and fellows.

    Dr. Onofrei is the most caring, friendly and knowledgeable Dr. I have ever had at the Neuroscience Center since I started there 2012 treating my Myasthenia Gravis.

    She was only in the room for a couple minutes so I really didn't get the opportunity to get to know her much or learn about her or her helping me. I do not know who will be following up with me on the rest of my appointments. Where I used to meet with Dr Reichert he was the only one that I saw and talked to there was no resident working with him so I feel kind of off that the resident may not know or understand completely my situation. It would be nice to have doctor Onofrei spend a little more time with me if she's going to be the MD working with my situation.
