Natalie J Tedford, MD is a Pediatrics Emergency Medicine and Global Health fellow at the University of Utah/Primary Children's Hospital. She is pursuing a MSc degree in Public Health – Health Promotion from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She is the recipient of an AAP CATCH Implementation grant for 2021-2022 regarding social needs screening in the pediatric ED and is involved in the NIH “Intensifying Community Referrals for Health: The SINCERE Intervention to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities." She is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, emphasizing the role of social determinants of health.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Biology with minors in Neuroscience and Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2013. She earned an MD from McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston in May of 2017 and was nominated into the Goldman Humanism Honor Society during her tenure. She completed a Residency in Pediatrics in June 2020 at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In residency, she was involved in a Leonard P. Rome CATCH Visiting Professorship grant focused on improving child advocacy efforts and education for the University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics faculty and trainees. Her previous advocacy work has encompassed improving health education in the school setting, shared plans of care for children with medical complexity, and resident education about adverse childhood experiences. Her research interests include community-based partnerships and research, global health and capacity building, health disparities and equity, and social determinants of health. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. She is involved with the AAP and has served as the AAP Fellow District VIII Assistant Representative & Representative while in fellowship (2020-2022).
