Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine (UCRM) Transition FAQs

Changes at UCRM

What will change at UCRM?

Beginning April 20, 2026, fertility care previously provided by Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine (UCRM) physicians will transition to Reproductive Medicine Associates of Utah (RMA of Utah), part of the IVI RMA global reproductive network.

Will my doctor still be involved in my care?

Yes. Your physician will remain involved in your care as part of the new RMA of Utah practice. Our team is focused on ensuring a smooth transition so your treatment experience remains consistent and supported.

Will UCRM still be part of the University of Utah?

While the clinic will no longer be referred to as UCRM, the clinic will maintain an academic partnership with the University of Utah, including medical education, fellowship training, and research activities.

Appointments & Scheduling

Do I need to schedule an appointment before April 20, 2026?

You do NOT need to schedule a visit if you meet certain criteria:

  • You already have an upcoming visit at UCRM.

  • You are storing embryos, eggs, sperm, or other reproductive tissue only.

  • You do not plan to continue fertility care after April 19, 2026.

Schedule a visit if the following applies to you:

  • You plan to continue care with RMA of Utah after April 19 but have not scheduled your next visit yet.

  • You are between cycles, awaiting a follow-up visit, or planning an egg retrieval or embryo transfer after April 19, 2026.

To schedule, call 801-581-3834.

How do I schedule an appointment?

  • Before April 19, call UCRM at 801-581-3834.

  • After April 20, call RMA of Utah at 801-385-0018.

How do I establish care with RMA of Utah?

Some patients may need a brief visit to establish care with RMA of Utah, update their medical record, and transition to the new electronic medical record system. This ensures continuity and accuracy in your care plan.

Where will I go for my appointments?

Until April 19, 2026, you will continue to visit the same clinic location for care at the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine (UCRM) located in Research Park.

Beginning April 20, 2026, appointments with RMA of Utah will take place at one of three locations:

You will receive clear instructions about your specific appointment location, including parking and arrival details. You will also be notified of any changes to check-in procedures.

Insurance & Billing

will my coverage change?

RMA of Utah participates with all insurance plans currently accepted at UCRM. However, individual benefits and authorizations may differ slightly and may require a new verification of benefits. Beginning April 20, 2026, care will be billed under a new tax ID number. Because of this change, insurance coverage will be reverified. A financial coordinator will review your benefits and provide a clear estimate before treatment.

Will my previous self-pay quote from UCRM still apply?

Yes. Self-pay quotes or agreements issued by UCRM will be honored by RMA of Utah for six months from their original date.

What insurance plans will be accepted?

RMA of Utah accepts a wide range of plans:

  • Aetna

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Cigna

  • UnitedHealthcare

  • Select Health

  • BridgeSpan Health

  • EMI Health

  • DMBA

  • First Health

  • MultiPlan

  • ValueCare

  • Healthwise

  • EBMS

  • Tall Tree

  • TRICARE

  • TriWest

  • University of Utah Health Plans

RMA of Utah also accepts some employer-sponsored fertility benefits:

  • Progyny

  • Maven Clinic

  • Carrot

  • Kindbody

Medical Records

Will my records automatically transfer?

If you were seen at UCRM between January 1 and March 31, 2026, your records will automatically transfer to RMA of Utah through a secure, HIPAA-compliant agreement between University of Utah Health and RMA of Utah.

If you have not been seen during that time and would like to continue fertility care with RMA of Utah, you will need to complete a consent form before your records are transferred.

How can my records be sent to another provider?

The fastest and easiest way to transfer your medical records is for the new health care provider to fax a request on their letterhead to 801-581-2177.

When records are requested for continuing care, a signed patient authorization is not required under HIPAA. If the new provider cannot fax the request, you may complete a medical records authorization form available in MyChart or through University of Utah Health’s Medical Records Office.

Specimens & Storage

Will my stored embryos, eggs, or sperm be moved?

No, not without your written consent. Your specimens will remain under the custodianship of University of Utah Health. They will continue to be monitored and maintained exactly as they are today, and storage billing will remain the same. If a transfer is required, your care team will guide you through the process and assist with any necessary paperwork and next steps.

Who do I contact with questions about my stored specimens?

You may contact the laboratory directly at 801-581-3834.

Billing Questions

How Will refunds or credits be handled?

If you do not have an appointment scheduled prior to April 19, 2026, a refund will be issued to you. If you do have an appointment prior to the transition, the credit will be used to settle that balance first and then refunded to you.

Will I still receive statements from the University of Utah?

Yes, for outstanding balances and for any storage.

Who do I call for billing questions?

For treatment planned after April 20, call RMA of Utah at 801-385-0018. For care delivered prior to April 20, call University of Utah Fertility Billing at 801-213-3871.

Who can I contact with additional questions?

We understand that transitions can bring questions. Our team is committed to providing clear information and reliable support throughout this process. If you need clarification at any time, please reach out to our care team at 801-581-3834.
