  • Dr. Michael Miescier received his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, his M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University and his M.P.H. from the University of Utah. He completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Utah. After working in community urgent care medicine in northern Nevada, he was a primary care physician with the University of Utah community clinics. Subsequently he joined the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics to work in the observation unit and emergency department (ED) at Primary Children's Hospital (PCH). During that period he was involved in asthma research, medical education, and community service for the homeless and uninsured.

    Dr. Miescier completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Primary Children's Hospital and is now a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. From 2014 to 2019 he was the Director of the Resident Rotation in the PCH emergency department. Dr. Miescier served as the Associate Program Director for the fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine for three years until assuming the role of Fellowship Program Director in 2019.

    His clinical interests include airway management, septic shock and head trauma. His research interests include the use of serum lactate for children with suspected septic shock. Other academic interests include medical education and simulation.
