Sierra M. Hobberstad, PA-C

  • Sierra’s passion for medicine began early, when she completed a surgical technology program as a high school senior. She went on to work as a surgical technologist for more than eight years, developing a deep appreciation for procedures and surgeries of all kinds. During that time, she pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, where she served as a teaching assistant in exercise physiology—a role that ignited her love for teaching. Her dedication and excellence were recognized when she was named “Student of the Year” in her senior year, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science.

Sierra earned her Master’s degree from the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program in 2017. During her training, she completed an elective rotation in interventional radiology, a field she immediately fell in love with and has been devoted to ever since. She joined the University of Utah’s Interventional Radiology team in 2020, where she continues to advance her expertise and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

At the age of 34, Sierra was diagnosed with breast cancer—a life-changing experience that deepened her empathy and strengthened her commitment to supporting patients through their own health challenges. Her professional interests include caring for patients battling cancer and performing image-guided procedures, particularly central venous port placements. Having personally navigated major surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, she offers unique insight, empathy, and practical guidance that help her patients feel truly understood.

When Sierra isn’t spending time with her partner and their two daughters, she can often be found outdoors— often playing sand volleyball, hiking, camping, or snowboarding. At home, she tends to her menagerie of animals, which includes a pot-bellied pig, a dog, a bearded dragon, two ducks, two cats, two jumping spiders, and an ever-growing collection of roly-polies and snails lovingly gathered by her girls.
