Temperatures are soaring into the triple digits. When kids are playing outside or you’re working in the yard, it might be tempting to sneak a sip of water from the garden hose. Sure, it’s convenient, but according to a study at Ecology Center, many garden hoses contain high levels of hazardous chemicals, including lead.

Thomas L. Miller, MD, an internal medicine physician at University of Utah Health, discusses some of the reasons why drinking from a garden hose is not a good idea.
