Reaching the Hispanic/Latino Community of Utah

The second cancer conference for the Hispanic/Latino Community of Utah, Salud Para Mí, Es Salud Para Mi Familia 2018, took place Saturday, June 16, at Salt Lake Community College. The conference offers a space for the Hispanic/Latino community of Utah to receive screenings with local health care providers, get reliable health information, and learn about cancer screening and prevention.

Huntsman Cancer Institute Opens Center for HOPE and is Awarded $9.7 Million to Improve Health Among Underserved Populations

Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah today announced the opening of the Cancer Population Sciences and Huntsman Center for Health Outcomes and Population Equity (HOPE), a new research and clinical space dedicated to preventing cancer and improving health among underserved populations and improving outcomes in cancer patients. The center recently received $9.7 million from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to fund a clinical trial researching new and effective approaches to reduce tobacco use.

Under the mentorship of an HCI scientist, PathMaker scholars conduct research and build a foundation for careers in health professions and biomedical research.
