Letter of Hope from the Multiple Myeloma Program

Though there is currently no cure for multiple myeloma, it is a very treatable disease. The Huntsman Cancer Institute Multiple Myeloma Program and other myeloma research communities continue to press forward in search of a cure. New treatments in the past 15 years have improved survival statistics for patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and clinical trials are researching promising therapies.

Sticking with the Positive through Multiple Myeloma

When Doug Stewart received an MRI after hurting his neck in a biking accident, the images revealed tumors wrapped around his spine. Doug was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. While recovering from his neck injury, he began cancer treatment. Throughout it all, Doug found a way to stay positive and hopeful. Now he has a full life, doing the things he loves and helping others.
