U.S. News & World Report Ranking
University of Utah Healthcare's John A. Moran Eye Center has made the leap from number 18 to number 13 in U.S. News & World Report's latest survey of the "Best Hospitals for Ophthalmology." Released on August 2, 2016, the survey puts Moran just shy of ranking in the Top 12 nationwide.
"We are so incredibly honored and proud to be moving steadily up in rankings by our peers," says Randall J Olson, MD, Moran Chair and CEO. "Our physicians are among the most knowledgeable and compassionate in the field, and they are supported by a caring, extraordinary staff. They are making a difference in patients' lives every single day, and this is a genuine tribute to their dedication."
Where Ophthalmologists Send Their Most Complex and Challenging Cases
Rankings for eye centers are determined 100% by their reputation with board-certified specialists. Ophthalmologists are asked for the top five hospitals to which they would refer their "most complex and challenging patients." Of ophthalmologists surveyed nationwide, 4.3% listed the Moran Eye Center as one of their top choices. (To make the U.S. News World & Report's Top 12 ranking, 5% of respondents need to include Moran in their top 5 choices.)
