Physicians from the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah provided free cataract surgeries to refugees resettled in Utah, the homeless, and low-income, uninsured residents as part of Moran’s Operation Sight Day held June 1.
Doctors identified 10 Operation Sight patients through charitable health clinics, including the Fourth Street Clinic, Moran’s Refugee Eye Care Clinic, and Salt Lake City’s Project Homeless Connect.
Operation Sight is just one of several local outreach efforts by Moran’s Global Outreach Division and is made possible thanks to Grandeur Peak Global Advisors of Salt Lake City, presenting sponsor for 2019.
Moran Eye Center physicians volunteering their time were Alan S. Crandall, MD; Nick Mamalis, MD; Christina Mamalis, MD; and Christopher Ricks, MD. They were assisted by volunteer technicians, nurses, and other personnel.
