Dr. Chaya was primarily the attending physician for my surgery. With the few interactions that I had, I appreciated his straightforward and considerate communication. I also appreciated how supportive he was of Dr. Patil. He provided some very good insights when she had questions and it was clear that she had no reservations in communicating with him. It seems clear that residence are benefited greatly by working with Dr. Chaya. I am also grateful for his skills as a surgeon.

Dr. Chaya was on his A game for my postoperative appointment/checkup. He was very thorough with his exam and concerned with his findings or lack there of. Then I feel he went to a C+ game. Dr. Chaya didn't ever say things looked good but he also didn't come right out and say what he thought was wrong or the potential cause of nearly no eye sight until I asked if he was worried that I still had an active bleed in my eye then he agreed that was his worry. I understand that it's difficult to know how much sugar you might have to put with the facts of someone's health. I don't feel that any sugar should be added to facts to digest. Also following my surgery I was checked by Dr. Chaya's fellow all looked good and I didn't have to return the next day. The fellow said he would call me the next day and check on how my eye was doing. The fellow didn't call me and I had no sight could only see light. I text Dr. Chaya 3 days post surgery and he was very concerned and he called me. Thank you

The provider was excellent. I had a problem during the procedure with extereme pain at the end, there was no way to let them know. I think each patient should have a call or alert button to press if issures arise. the provider is in gerar looking at the eye and can not recognize distress signals. I have already verbalized my concerns near the end of the procedure I had a 10/10pain level and no way to let them know. Please put a process in place. Thank you.

I specifically chose Dr. Chaya bcuz after doing research, I felt he would be the most knowledgeable with options and techniques used for glaucoma. I only have eyesight in 1 eye which happens to be my eye with glaucoma. With only 1 visit I am confident he will be able to prolong my vision and keep my glaucoma pressures under control. He was very informative, explained some of the options available and gave me a plan of action. My former ophthalmologist's seemed to be at a bit of a loss on what to do with me bcuz the operations weren't working as well as they were hoping and I was on 3-4 different eye drops to keep my eye pressures under 20. So I was very pleased with Dr Chaya.
Dr. Chaya was and has always been very thorough in his care practice. It appeared to me that he was behind in getting to his patients in a timely manner. Dr. Chaya seemed very rushed to get to his next patient. He mentioned a laser eye treatment but didnt give me his time to explain the details. He wanted me to go to a few different websites and read about the procedure. For that I feel that Dr. Chaya feel short on the full and proper care of his patient.

Dr. Chaya was good but we have seen 3 glaucoma doctors now and he was supposed to be the "one" to answer all our questions but we felt the most rushed with him and like we were just another number to him. He explained things but it was like he talked to our primary glaucoma doctor and just said yep I'll validate that! He needs to take a step back slow down and really be present with his patients even if it's only a one time visit.

Dr prescribed home tonometer. This arrived by mail a few days later with many instructions & video. It was very difficult to learn how to use. Having someone at the office demonstrate this would have been very helpful. Also the instructions were sometimes not contradictory from the email (from the company providing the device).

We were traveling from out of state for him to do surgery and before arrival he called us and helped us get all our questions answered and got us set up to limit our travels back and forth during hard times. This was my second visit with Dr. Chaya and his staff. I have lived in several areas of the country and interacted with a variety of medical systems/providers. I have been extremely impressed with the patient experience U of U Health has created, from scheduling to check-in and consultation. It has all been efficient, compassionate and professional. Dr. Chaya has taken the time to get to know me a bit, explain things and discuss questions and concerns. The technicians and other health professionals I've interacted with have been great as well. Keep up the good work!

I felt a bit accused of wanting a procedure that I did not need. I was sent to the Redwood location after it was suggested from the Westridge location that I have it checked out by the this specialist. I realize that they were trying to speak to me so I would understand, but it really came off like they were talking down to me like I was a child

Reviewed what went well and what didn't. Appreciated the explanation of what happened during the surgecal procedure. Explained what can be done on the right eye on the 30th.
Dr. Chaya is great. He removed the cataract in my right eye 4 years ago. It was nice to see him again. He is still a great doctor, love that!
