What Is a Congenital Nevus?

A congenital nevus is a birthmark that is a mole. Unlike other birthmarks, these moles don't usually disappear and may grow larger over time. Doctors consider these moles risky because they can become cancerous later in life.

Our pediatric plastic surgeons have the experience to help you evaluate what is best for your child’s well-being. By requesting a consultation, you have access to not just excellent physicians but specialists who also have fellowship training beyond the standard. Don’t trust your child’s care to just any practitioner.

Treatment for Congenital Nevi

Treatments for congenital nevi include the following:

  • Primary nevus excision (cutting the mole off)
  • Tissue expansion
  • Laser resurfacing

If you have any questions and would like an evaluation, request a consultation today.
