Longtime College of Pharmacy faculty member and researcher Karen Wilcox, Ph.D., has accepted the position of chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, effective Jan. 15, 2015.
Wilcox, associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology, joined the College of Pharmacy in 1998. She has contributed much to the College and her department through her teaching and service to professional and graduate programs, helping to lead the Anticonvulsant Drug Development Program (ADD) as co-investigator and through her own research into how epilepsy develops in the brain and the efficacy of anticonvulsant drugs.
"Her many roles in the College of Pharmacy have given Dr. Wilcox the breadth and depth of experience to become an outstanding department chair," says Kristen A. Keefe (Hayashi), Ph.D., interim dean of the College and professor of pharmacology and toxicology. "She shows the desire for excellence in everything she does, and I am sure she will carry that high standard as she leads the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology into an exciting future."
