Come see us at the new University of Utah REDMED Employee Health Clinic.
The clinic, sponsored by University of Utah Human Resources Management, opened for business treating main campus employees on April 28. The clinic is centrally located on the first floor of the Union Building. The clinic will offer a variety of medical services at no cost to university employees.
Opening the employee clinic on site is part of the university's overall strategy to make the University of Utah one of the best places to learn and work. The clinic will be the new site of service for first-line evaluations of work-related injuries for the over 20,000 main campus employees. In addition, employees can see a nurse practitioner for colds and flu; rashes; routine vaccinations; aches and pains; and a variety of other non-emergent medical conditions – with no co-pay required.
Human Resources Management has partnered with the University of Utah's College of Nursing, which provides faculty and staff for the clinic; the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, which provides the support of a medical director with occupational medicine expertise; and with the UUHC Employee Health director, who provides the overall management of the clinic.
Chief Human Resources Officer Jeff Herring is quick to admit that human resources is generally not in the business of managing a medical clinic. However, the resources and expertise we have available at the University of Utah provides the unique opportunity for us to collaborate with colleagues to deliver accessible, high-quality and cost-effective health care to our employees right on campus.
The clinic will be open for both walk-in and scheduled appointments Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. See our new website at https://www.hr.utah.edu/RedMed/. Call: 801-213-3303. Or email: RedMed@utah.edu.
