University of Utah Receives Top Ranking in Hospital Compare Survey

The federal government's Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its annual quality rankings of hospitals and awarded University of Utah Hospital four stars, the highest ranking in Utah. CMS's Hospital Compare ranking says UUHC performs above the national average when it comes to safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, effectiveness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging.

"At the University of Utah we are always working to deliver safe and high quality healthcare while improving the patient experience and keeping costs at a minimum," says Robert Pendleton, M.D., Chief Medical Quality Officer for University of Utah Health Care. "While this recognition speaks to that, we know there is still work to be done and room for improvement."

Hospital Compare allows users to compare hospitals via a five star rating system. Current overall ratings are based on data collected in the spring of this year.

University of Utah Health Care has a network of care facilities including a Level 1 Trauma Center, four hospitals, and 11 community clinics.
