University of Utah Health was named one of the best places to work in the country, according to Forbes. The ranking, in collaboration with the analytics firm Statista, reflects the findings of 30,000 employees working for large U.S. companies and organizations.
"This is a unique place," said Gordon Crabtree, CEO of University of Utah Health. "We credit our success to the talented men and women who devote their lives to providing some of the best care science has to offer. Being ranked among Forbes' best American employers is a testament to the pride our employees take in their work and the confidence they have in our health system."
Participation in the survey was voluntary, and respondents were recruited to maximize reach and representation of the U.S. workforce. A company's score is determined by direct employee feedback and a public perception score. Only the companies receiving the best recommendations are awarded the title as America's Best Employers.
University of Utah Health was ranked 35 out of 500 recognized organizations in the nation and is the only health care provider from the state of Utah to receive the designation.
This recognition for University of Utah Health follows on the heels of receiving the Advisory Board's 2018 Workplace of the Year Award for outstanding levels of employee engagement. Not surprisingly, health care organizations with higher levels of staff engagement also have higher patient satisfaction scores, better staff retention, and a stronger culture of safety. University of Utah Health credits its employees for its national ranking as a top 10 academic medical center for quality and safety for eight consecutive years. Additionally, more than 40 percent of all its clinical providers consistently rank in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction—and more than half of those rank in the top one percent in the nation.
