August 8, 2018 – University of Utah Health announces that Michael Moss, M.D., has been appointed as the medical director of the Utah Poison Control Center.
The Utah Poison Control Center is a 24-hour resource for the public, healthcare professionals, and state and local agencies for preventing and treating poisoning. Moss will be responsible for developing consistent protocols and procedures for poison control specialists. He is also available to support health care professionals around the state, to review cases or provide expert opinion.
"I am particularly interested in building on our role as educators throughout the community," said Moss. "Additionally, I hope to deepen partnerships across the university to better support poisoning prevention and treatment training for students and residents across all disciplines."
Along with his position as medical director, Moss will also have a faculty appointment as an assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy and an adjunct appointment in the Division of Emergency Medicine.
Moss comes most recently from the Oregon Poison Center, where he served as a toxicology fellow. He completed emergency medicine residency at Virginia Commonwealth University and medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Moss joined the faculty at University of Utah Health August 1.
