Music - University of Utah Hospital
Purpose
Provide support and entertainment for patients, visitors, and employees at the University of Utah Hospital through live instrumental music performances.
Days/ Hours
Contact hospitalvolunteerservices@hsc.utah.edu for available schedules. Positions require at least 1 hour per week on weekdays between 8 am and 5 pm, with flexibility possible. Audition required.
Volunteer Duties/Responsibilities
- Enhance visitor experiences through a broad offering of instrumental music. Selections should provide a range and should not focus primarily on one particular genre. Volume is critical, and music must not be disruptive to the hospital lobby surroundings.
Location
Piano Players - Farmington Health Center
Purpose
Provide support and entertainment for patients, visitors, and employees by playing soft piano music in the hospital.
Days/ Hours
Weekdays 8 am–5 pm, minimum 1 hour weekly. Flexible scheduling determined by clinic. Audition required.

South Jordan Piano Players
Purpose
Provide support and entertainment for patients, visitors, and employees by playing soft piano music in the hospital.
Days/ Hours
Weekdays between 8 am–5 pm with a minimum of 1 hour per week. Audition required.

Youth Summer Volunteer Program
Requirements
Volunteers ages 14-17 require parental consent for 25 hours over an 8-week program, June 3rd - July 26th, 2024.
Purpose
To provide support and positive experiences for patients, visitors, and staff during the Youth Volunteer Program at The University of Utah Health Hospital & Clinics.
Days/Hours
Volunteer shifts vary depending on roles. The typical commitment is 2-4 hours per week, except for pianists who must be able to play for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Volunteer Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with directing and providing directions at the Information Desk, supporting valet services, or playing the piano at designated locations. Piano volunteers are expected to vary their music selections and maintain a low volume level consistent with lobby ambiance.
