Dr Gessel is an excellent GI Specialist.Without his guidance the possible source of my abdominal pain would not have been found. I am extremely grateful for his through evaluation and follow up care.

Great doctor

Dr. Gessel is one of the few doctors who actually listens carefully to what you tell him and comprehends what has been discussed. He looks at the whole person instead of just passing your problems off to a different specialist. If a question isn't in his area of expertise, he'll admit it but help if he can. He is cautious with his recommendations to not overly expose a patient to harmful tests or medications unless he feels they are warranted. I'm grateful to have him as my doctor.

Feel hopeful getting a firm diagnosis.

I actually don't like going to appointments with this provider. He makes me feel like he's busy and annoyed. He listens, but I feel he's listening to respond, not understand. He leaves some questions unanswered, which makes me think either he doesn't know, or doesn't think my issues are important.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gessel. He listens, is thorough, and you can tell his heart is in it to help you feel better. He's smart, answers messages, and always shows up to my appointments prepared. We were very happy to get the chance to see Dr. Daryl again - he had been on my team during a hospital stay and caught things attendings looked over. He's smart, interested, and invested. Hope he sticks around post fellowship!
