Bio

Dr. Pfitzner received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, completed his Pediatric residency at Arkansas Children´s Hospital, and his General Academic Pediatric Fellowship at the University of Utah. He has been a faculty member of the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics since 1995. He initially worked with the Division of General Pediatrics and the Teen Mother and Child Program, and then he worked with the Division of Inpatient Medicine where he was medical director of the Children’s Medical Unit at Primary Children’s Medical Center.

He is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah and is the Director of the University of Utah Student Health Center. His specific clinical interests are adolescent and young adult medicine.

Academic Bio

Mark Pfitzner, M.D. M.P.H. is the Director of the Student Health Center for the University of Utah where he oversees the health center, the immunization compliance office, and the office over the student health insurance plan in additional to providing clinical care. Dr. Pfitzner’s past scholarly interests include such diverse topics as lead toxicity in Nigerian children, calcium deficiency rickets, and teenage pregnancy.

Dr. Pfitzner received his undergraduate education at the University of Missouri – Columbia and his M.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School. After completing postgraduate training and chief residency in pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, he completed a General Academic Pediatric fellowship and obtained a Masters degree in Public Health at the University of Utah.
